Ohio Cheer and Dance College Jam

The Ohio State All Girl Cheer Team will be hosting the Ohio Cheer and Dance College Jam on April 5 from 12-1pm at the Jesse Owens Recreation Center North. The event features the OSU Girl's competitive cheer team performing their 2008 NCA College Nationals routine along with other competing colleges from around Ohio. Admission is $1. Pinwheels for Prevention

Serving with Honor and Prevent Child Abuse Ohio need your help with our annual Pinwheels for Prevention project. In an effort to honor victims and to raise awareness about this ongoing problem, Serving with Honor and other campus organizations will be planting 3,477 pinwheels on the south oval to represent every two cases of reported child abuse. Pinwheels will be displayed from April 13th – 18th. In order to construct the beautiful display, we will need 75 volunteers on Sunday, April 13th from 2 pm to 5 pm. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Therese at fialko.1@osu.edu.

We will also need volunteers to staff the information tables from 9 am to 4 pm Monday, April 14th – Friday, April 17th. To volunteer for this event, please send availability to Natalia at katsman.1@osu.edu.

Finally, we will need volunteers to patrol the display during the night from Sunday though Wednesday. Shifts are two hours long between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am. There will always be at least two people per shift. To volunteer, please send availability and T-shirt size to Emily at blake.185@osu.edu.

Do you need to take the MCAT, GMAT, or GRE?

On Saturday April 5th, Golden Key International Honour Society is partnering with The Princeton Review to offer a FREE practice MCAT, GMAT, and GRE. The tests start at noon and end at various times (MCAT 5:30, GMAT 4:00, GRE 2:30). The tests will be given in the Journalism Building, Rm220. If you want to take one of these tests you just need to register at PrincetonReview.com/events. If you have trouble finding the event on the website you can either call The Princeton Review office at 614-488-2929 or e-mail TPR at info.columbus@review.com or Charles Prueter at prueter.6@osu.edu . Make sure you tell them which test you want to take. This event is open to current OSU students so be sure to tell all of your friends. Space is limited so register soon!

Organization Tabling Space Still Available for Take Back The Night 2008!

Another exciting evening is being planned for Take Back the Night 2008. TBTN is a yearly event which raises awareness about sexual violence against women and children. The evening will include sexual survivors clothesline project, speakers, performers, a speak out and finally a march! Organizations interested in tabling are invited to join us Thursday, May 15 from 5pm-9pm on the Wexner Center plaza. Tables and chairs will be provided, and a $10 registration fee is requested for participation. Please inform us of your interest no later than April 11 at 5pm. Mi Tierra Baila Dance Performance

Celebrating its 10th anniversary as a student organization at the Ohio State University, Folclor Hispano performs traditional dances from Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Peru, Bolivia, and Spain on FRIDAY, April 18, 2008, from 8 pm to 9:30 pm at the Thurber Theater in the Drake Performance and Event Center on the OSU Columbus campus, 1849 Cannon Drive. Come and enjoy an evening of Hispanic culture through the excitement of dance, music, and costumes. Bring your friends and family.

FREE tickets are available the evening of performance on a first-come basis beginning at 7:15 pm or by prior pick up at the OSU Theater Box Office in the Drake Performance & Event Center (1849 Cannon Drive), Monday-Friday from 10 am - 4 pm. Studio 275

Studio 275 is a contemporary disco hosted by OSU's Knowlton School of Architecture on Saturday, April 12th 2008. Join us for a night of lights, color, Studio 54 decadence, and a great club atmosphere. There will be a live dj spinning the best from the 70s as well as contemporary hits, all-you-can-eat sushi and beverages provided by Bento-Go-Go, and 70s costume / dance-off competitions with iPod and cash prizes! Dress in your finest 70s attire or feel free to keep it modern while enjoying the decadence, dance, sushi, and prizes that only a night at Studio 275 can offer!

Pi Kappa Phi will Pedal for Push

Starting Sunday April 6th on the South Oval Pi Kappa Phi will be holding their first HUGE event for their philanthropy Push America. Beginning at 4:30pm the Pi Kapps will start their 72 hour Bike-a-Thon, called Pedal for Push, to raise awareness, support, and funds for people with disabilities. During these 72 hours there will be giveaways, raffles, cornhole, and all sorts of fun games and refreshments. So please stop by and show your support at all hours of the day starting Sunday at 4:30pm until Wednesday at 4:30pm. See you There!

Blood Drive at Pomerene Hall

The Todd A. Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male, Afrikan Student Union, UCHO, and the Council of Black Leaders will hold a blood drive in collaboration with the American Red Cross on Friday, April 4 from 9-4 in the Pomerene Hall Gym. Broken Bread Meal

Come express solidarity with those who suffer with HIV/AIDS by eating a simple porridge meal, which is nourishment for many people affected by AIDS in two-thirds of the world. The porridge is a corn-soy blend used for relief in emergency food situations worldwide. Hear a speaker from World Vision talk about this global pandemic, and hear a talk on the interface between Jesus and justice. All entrance fees will be donated to World Vision, a humanitarian organization, and the work they do involving HIV/AIDS. Join Do You See Orange? Battle of the Bands

Romophos: A Sophomore Class Honorary will be hosting its 10th annual Battle of the Bands at the Newport Music Hall on Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Columbus. Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door. Special packages are available for residence hall events. So stop by and listen to some great music for a great cause!

H & S Food Pantry seeks donations

The H&S Food Pantry, sponsored by Serving with Honor, is asking for 100 cans of meat (chili, Chef Boyardee, tuna, dried beef, etc – no Spam, please) to be donated during the month of April to help serve local impoverished families in Franklin County. In February, over 225 items were donated, including our goal of 100 Helper meals – THANK YOU! The food can be dropped off in Taylor Tower, Morrill Tower’s Fresh Express location, or Kuhn Honors and Scholars House before Wednesday (4/30). First Annual Grad/Professional Cup

Inter-Professional Council and Council of Graduate Students are organizing a soccer tournament--the First Annual Grad/Professional Cup! It will be held at ARC on April 5th from 12-5. Teams are guaranteed three thirty-minute games and could play four. The price is $5 per person which includes your teams' t-shirt and all proceeds go to charity. Teams are coed and will play 7-on-7, with no limit as to the number of substitutes a team may have. Each team must have two female players on the field at all times. The first eight teams to sign up are guaranteed a spot. All students at OSU graduate schools or professional colleges are eligible, so tell your friends! Homecoming Court Applications Available Now!

Each year student leaders are chosen to represent The Ohio State University as members of the Homecoming Court. These individuals are selected by a judging panel consisting of staff, faculty, and notable alumni. The court members are chosen based on their ability to exemplify the qualities of leadership, spirit, integrity, and achievement through their contributions and involvement at The Ohio State University.

Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008 to the Information Center at Ohio Union (Ohio Stadium, between gates 22 and 24). Four unstapled copies of the entire application must be turned in. Applications not meeting this requirement will not be considered. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and FYE present Morgan Spurlock

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience will welcome Morgan Spurlock as the First-Year Distinguished Speaker. Morgan Spurlock’s lecture and book signing will be on Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Weigel Hall Auditorium.

Spurlock is the Academy Award-nominated director of Super Size Me, the creator and producer of the reality television series 30 Days, and author of Don’t Eat this Book. Spurlock will talk about his experiences as a documentary filmmaker and about the 30 Days episode “Minimum Wage”—set in Columbus—where he tries to survive for 30 days on $5.15 an hour.

Tickets to this event will be available to first year students beginning Thursday, March 27th and to the campus community and general public on Thursday, April 3rd. Tickets can be picked up in 120 Enarson Hall. Seating is limited. For more information please visit www.fye.osu.edu/speaker.html.

Toyota Grand Prix of Swimming Comes to OSU

This exciting event will bring to campus more than 700 athletes, including several international teams, and some of the most talented swimmers in the U.S. The Toyota Grand Prix at The Ohio State University begins on Friday, April 4 with prelim sessions beginning at 9 a.m. ET each day and finals scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. All-Session Passes are available for $45. Tickets for prelims are $8, and finals tickets are $12. All tickets include heat sheets (swimmer lists by event). Tickets are general admission and may be purchased on line at www.hangonsloopy.com, by phone at 1-800-GO-BUCKS or in person.
