He who Searches, Finds

Yahoo! Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are giving Batman and Robin a run for their money for the best collaboration as they have recently joined forces against the giant of a search engine hosted by Google Inc. BING is the offspring of the Yahoo and Microsoft marriage.

The merger, as explained by Business Journal [http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2009/07/27/daily45.html], will last for ten years. Yahoo! has agreed to use Bing search engine technology on its sites and Microsoft will integrate Yahoo's search technology into its web platforms.

It is projected by Yahoo! that the partnership will boost its annual profit by about $500 million and save them $275 million in research investment on search technology. Even still, Yahoo! and Microsoft combined account for LESS THAN HALF of the 65 percent share of the Internet search market owned by Google says comScore.

I imagine Google telling Yahoo! and Microsoft, "You've lost your mind, you can use my search engine to find it."

Bing has a lot of buzz around it, but only time will tell if the giant Google has met its match.
