Alternative Spring Break is a week-long community service trip to a city outside of Columbus during the university’s spring break. The mission of ASB is to provide students with a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to lead and learn through active experiences. Participants learn the importance of reflection, social justice, and civic engagement while gaining new perspectives. They also meet community needs, identify and build upon community assets, and bring experiences back to campus to share. This opportunity allows participants to build new friendships, and serve and learn about our communities in a substance-free environment.

Applications Available for University Host Program

The University Host Program is dedicated to making a special connection with prospective Ohio State students and their families. We volunteer 1-3 hours per week in the admissions office alongside other outreach programs, such as the University Ambassadors (tour guides). We offer a wealth of experience and information, and our job is to make our visitors feel welcomed and excited by this great university. We also volunteer during Large Visit Days, and we work closely with athletics to host prospective student-athletes. Counselors sought for Carving New Ideas

Carving New Ideas is a weekend leadership retreat for high school students across the Ohio. Collegiate 4-H at The Ohio State University organizes this annual event to serve Ohio's teen leaders. This year's camp will be held Friday, December 7th through Sunday, December 9th at 4-H Camp Ohio near Utica, Ohio. Environmental Conservation Abroad -- Costa Rica
OSU Student Seeks Volunteers to Aid Sea Turtles of Costa Rica Join us on our trip to Costa Rica this June 2008 seeking environmental aid for the Leatherback sea turtles of the region. Students will get the chance to aid in the research and patrolling of area beaches while witnessing the nesting and hatching of some of the most beautiful creatures on this earth. Trip focuses on rainforest conservation as well. We would like to recruit students early so we can reserve a spot for the correct number of students with the coordinator. SBS Undergraduate Research Grants
The Ohio Hispanic Coalition is seeking volunteers to assist with their after school program. They are in need of volunteers Monday through Friday from 3 – 7pm. Volunteers can come one or more day a week to assist children with reading, writing, and some math. Some knowledge of the Spanish language is helpful, but not necessary. Work Days/Times: Mon- Wednesday, 7-9 pm (varies w/ schedule)

Description: The Residence Hall Peer Tutors assist undergraduate students with their mathematics and science coursework within the residence halls. Tutoring is a great way to help your friends and peers gain a better understanding of math and science. It is also an excellent way to strengthen and expand your knowledge of the subject matter you’re tutoring.

Overall responsibilities include the following:
• Tutors must be competent in at least one, and preferably several, of the following subject areas: Math, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Tutoring is offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in ten different residence hall locations on campus.
• Two tutors work together at each residence hall location.
• Tutoring is on a walk-in basis.
• Tutors are expected to possess:
knowledge of the key concepts within their assigned subject area(s)
excellent communication and listening skills
a positive attitude and a pleasant demeanor
patience with, and respect for, the students they are helping

• 2.80 GPA or higher for undergraduates / 3.33 GPA or higher for graduate students
• Completion of at least three quarters of undergraduate study
• Ability to verify one’s identity and authorization to work in the U.S.

Clean the Schott and Raise Money for Your Organization
The Jerome Schottenstein Center’s Sweeping Groups program is a fast and fun way to make extra money for your favorite group.
