American rescued from Somali pirates
Late last week an American cargo ship was captured by Somali pirates off the eastern coast of Africa. The crew fought back and retook the ship but the pirates captured Richard Phillips, captain of the cargo ship. This led to a standoff that finally ended when the US navy rescued Phillips after snipers killed his captors. This incident was a major triupmh for Obama's foreign policy.

The United Nations Security Council agreed to condemn the recent North Korean missile test. The test, which American analysts fear was an attempt to test a ballistic missle, was in violation of treaties that prevent North Korea from testing nuclear weapons. This condemnation could lead to harsher sanctions on a country that is already horribly poor and underdeveloped.

In local news, an engineering technician was killed in an elevator accident right across from OSU's campus at the Holiday Inn on Lane Ave. Th eman was pinned against the elevator and the ladder that he was servicing it from. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
