Company: Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO)

Hours: 20 hrs per week (between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday)

Position: Legislative Intern

Position Requirements: Experience with and/or high level of interest in utility and energy related issues. Knowledge and experience in state government (Statehouse/Riffe page, intern, etc.) is preferred. Ability to multitask and take detailed notes. Strong writing skills are encouraged.

Duties: - Research and investigate utility-related issues for Ohio’s public officials

- Attend and report on committee meetings in Ohio Statehouse when necessary

- Assist Legislative Liaison with utility-related legislative issues

Pay: $12.50/hr

About the PUCO: The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects just about every household in Ohio. That's because the PUCO regulates providers of all kinds of utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, and rail and trucking companies. The PUCO was created to assure Ohioans adequate, safe, and reliable public utility services at a fair price. More recently, the PUCO gained responsibility for facilitating competitive utility choices for Ohio consumers.
