Teach For America is hiring full-salary positions for next year - FINAL deadline is Feb. 19th

The unfortunate reality today is that where children are born determines their educational prospects. There are 13 million children growing up in poverty in America who face tremendous challenges to reaching their potential. This reality disproportionately impacts African-American, Latino, Hispanic, and Native American children, who are three times as likely to live in a low-income area. Teach For America seeks to change this and you have the power to help.....


Teach For America seeks individuals of all backgrounds, majors, and career interests who are interested in helping students of color in low-income communities reach their goals. The opportunity is full salary (27,000-47,000/year), full-benefits, offers loan deferrment, and additional money towards further education. Teach For America provides you with training, as well as support and resources to help you lead your students to significant academic progress and to have a tremendous impact on their lives.

The final deadline for your application is February 19th. The application takes between 2 and 3 hours, is non-binding, and is a great way for seniors without jobs lined-up to keep an option open. Corps Member and Alumni Stories (2.16.10) featuring:
• Shiri Klima, a graduate of the University of Michigan who earned her Master of Education from Arizona State University and then obtained her JD from the University of Southern California. She was a 2002 Phoenix corps member where she taught 8th grade English. She is currently an attorney in Los Angeles.
• Robert Trevino, a 2006 Stanford alum, taught science as a corps member in New York, and is now a med student at Rush Medical School in Chicago. RSVP for this event here.

Introduction to Teach For America (2.17) featuring:
• Beth Kuhnhein, a 2006 University of Kentucky graduate, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the president of Alpha Delta Pi, and a UK Ambassador. After teaching middle school French for two years as a 2006 corps member in St. Louis, Beth now works as an associate director of member services for The Advisory Board, a healthcare research and consulting firm.
