Buck-I-Serv Spring Break Applications
Below is information about Buck-I-Serv applications for Spring Break and upcoming Ohio state community service activities over the next couple of weeks such as MLK Day of Service!Participant applications are due on January 17.

Spring Break Trips will be from March 19-27, 2011. We are looking for advisors as well. Please consider applying to advise one of the trips! We are going to 27 different locations across the country. Advisor applications are due tomorrow and can be found at this link:

Buck-I-Serv: The Alternative Break Program at Ohio State is sending 350 students across the country on week-long service trips this Spring Break! Apply Now to be a Leader or Participant! Throughout the week students will explore the city while also participating in community service in that area of the country. These substance-free, community service trips will be taking place from March 19-27, 2011. The service focus of all the trips varies and prices vary depending on location. All information about destinations and prices is listed on the link below. Each trip has two student leaders, 7 participants, and one staff/graduate advisor.
Leader applications are due on Friday, January 7 @ 11:59pm and Participant applications are due Monday, January 17 @ 11:59pm. No prior experience with Buck-I-Serv necessary to apply! Email Rosie Holmes.443@osu.edu with any questions.

Make it a Day On, Not a Day Off! MLK Day of Service 2011!
The 2011 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at Ohio State University is coming up on January 17! MLK Day of Service is a commemorative, one day service event, in which over 500 Ohio State Students volunteer at various service sites around Columbus. Bring your friends out to Volunteer! Registration begins at 8am in the Archie Griffin Ballroom and the day will conclude around 2:30pm. Please arrive at 8am to be a part of the event! To learn more about the day of service, visit http://ohiounion.osu.edu/get_involved/csls/mlkday. Please be sure to dress warm on the off-chance you may have to walk outside for a portion of the day.

Board Immersion Program:
The Board Immersion Program, a new initiative sponsored by the Ohio Union in the Office of Student Life, is searching for students interested in community engagement and nonprofit organizations! This advanced leadership program matches students with board members of local nonprofit organizations, providing students the opportunity to gain insight into the inner workings of nonprofit organizations, while developing valuable community leadership skills. Selected students will attend board sessions, participate in an AU11 course, and complete a strategic project of the organization under the guidance of a board mentor.
All students who will be of junior status at the beginning of the Autumn 2011 quarter are eligible to apply! Applications will be available at the beginning of Winter Quarter and are due in mid-February. Service in 88 Counties:
Service in 88 Counties is a new program of the SERVTeam searching for OSU students looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Ohio primary education students. Our vision is to travel to school districts in all 88 counties of Ohio to share the message of access to higher education with students who fall outside the typical parameters of prospective college students. By bringing together college and elementary students, this program seeks to help local students reach their full potential and develop the next generation of college students! Trips this quarter may take place in Clinton, Lorain, Vinton, Adams, and Brown counties.
