Job Opportunity for Business and Social Work Majors
Do you need money for school, or to pay back student loans? Or are you already on your way toward a master's degree in public policy, social work, or business? Are you also a boundless idealist that would love to make an impact on the lives of students in our public school system?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should apply to "give a year and change the world," with the City Year program. An AmeriCorps program, City Year unites diverse 17-24-year-olds for ten months of full time service in some of our highest need urban schools. Serving as tutors, mentors and role models to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, City Year corps members are helping thousands of students stay in school and on track toward high school graduation. In Columbus alone, more than 700 corps members have served more than 1,000,000 hours since 1994 - and we won't stop there.
As a corps member, you'll receive a living stipend, transportation passes, uniform parts, leadership development tools, professional support, and more - and after you finish your service with us, you'll receive a $5,500 education award! In fact, we now have partnerships with 94 institutions that match the education award - giving you more than $10,000 toward your educational goals! There are also 29 "Give a Year" partnership institutions that provide additional scholarship money to City Year graduates with programs focusing on social work, public policy, business, theology, education, psychology, and more. So no matter if you are 17 and thinking about starting a college career, or on your way to graduate school - a year of service will boost your resume, get you some money for school, and give you the satisfaction that comes with giving back to the community through transformative service.
The next application deadline is February 1, and you can start your application online at http://www.cityyear.org/. For more information, please call Kendra Roberts , Recruitment Manager, at 614-586-4540 or email kroberts@cityyear.org.
