Black HIstory Month Documentaries

Its Black History Month! The Department of African American and African Studies are presenting a Documentary Series highlighting four powerful and influential individuals from the 19th and 20th Century. These documentaries are free and open to the public and after the documentary, a discussion will follow. To get all the details click "See More"!
Beginning Tuesday, February 1 and continuing every Tuesday during the month of February, The Ohio State University Department of African American and African Studies Community Extension Center will present a documentary designed to examine African American history and engage the community in dialogue about an issue that impacts past, present and future generations.

“Each documentary will bring to life four of the most important figures of the 19th and 20th century,” says Dr. Judson L. Jeffries, Professor of African American and African Studies and Director of the Department of African American and African Studies Community Extension Center. At the conclusion of the documentary, a discussion will be led by an expert on the subject. “These documentaries are not only enlightening, but thought provoking. Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to examine the life and work of four of the most important Black figures in the struggle for racial equality and self-determination.”

All documentaries begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a discussion with the exception of the Nat Turner documentary which begins at 6:30 p.m. The documentaries are free and open to the public.
