Funding Deadline - Friday, February 1

The programming funds deadline for Spring Quarter events occurring March 24 - June 15 is this Friday, February 1. Make Your Meetings Magnificent

Do you plan events and meetings for your organization? Or are you looking for ways to improve your events/meetings? Join us for the Ohio Union Event Services/University Catering Open House at the Women’s Field House on Tuesday, February 26th from 4-6pm. We’ll show you this unique facility, explain the equipment and services we offer to make your events successful, and give you a taste of different menu options. Deconstructing the Chappelle Show: A Critical Look

Join DESO (Diversity and Empowerment Student Organization of the College of Education & Human Ecology) and Kashif Khan from the Multicultural Center on Friday, February 8 at 2:30 in Arps Hall, Rm 274 for free pizza and drinks as we watch the Dave Chappelle Show and bring to light some of the underlying issues within his skits. DESO ' s mission: to empower students in the College of Education and Human Ecology by creating a forum where students can advocate for change that strengthens scholastic endeavors and enhances diversity. V-Day Holding a T-shirt Design Contest

V-Day is having a t-shirt design contest for The Vagina Monologues (happening March 7th and 8th)! USG Academic Enrichment Grants

USG is proud to offer Academic Enrichment Grants of up to $500 for the 2007-2008 school year. Funds are available for students of all undergraduate majors and can be used anytime in the next year. Applications are due February 15th. Some examples of possible uses of the grant are: research, public service trips/initiatives, creative work, professional development activities, and conferences. BuckeyeThon seeks volunteers

BuckeyeThon 2008 is OSU’s 14-hour dance marathon that benefits Nationwide Children ' s Hospital in Columbus and the Children’s Miracle Network. This year BuckeyeThon will be held February 16th-17th from noon to 2 am in the Tom Davis Gym at the RPAC. Do you need to take the MCAT, GMAT, or GRE?

Golden Key International Honour Society is partnering with The Princeton Review to offer a FREE practice MCAT, GMAT, and GRE. All three tests will be offered on Saturday February 9th at noon in the Journalism Building room 220 (please note that these tests will be the same version as the previous tests). The ending time depends on which test you are taking (MCAT 5:30, GMAT 4:00, GRE 2:30). If you want to take one of these tests you just need to register at PrincetonReview.com/events. If you have trouble finding the event on the website you can either call The Princeton Review office at 614-488-2929 or e-mail them at info.columbus@review.com. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship hosts Ash Wednesday Service

Wednesday, February 6, at 6:00 p.m. in Scott Laboratory Room 001 (in the lower level of the East Wing). Ink Cartridge and Cell Phone Recycling Program

Don ' t know what to do with your old ink cartridges and cell phones when you are done with them? Don ' t throw them away...recycle them! Students for Recycling is currently sponsoring an ink cartridge and cell phone recycling program in Drackett, Taylor, Stradley, Smith, Steeb, and Park residence halls. Its easy...just bring your ink cartridge or cell phone to the front desk of one of these dorms, place them in the green Students for Recycling bins, and help save recyclable items from going to the landfill!

2008 Nonprofit Career Fair

The 2008 Nonprofit Career Fair, sponsored by the Arts and Sciences Career Services Office and Project Community, will take place on Wednesday, February 20th, from 9am-noon in the RPAC meeting rooms (second floor of the RPAC). Over 40 nonprofit organizations will be in attendance recruiting for interns, volunteers, and paid staff. The Nonprofit Career Fair is free to attend and is open to any OSU student. Call for Nominations: Awards for Excellence in Community Service and Scholarship.

Students: nominate yourself, a student organization, a faculty or staff member, or a community partner for these awards that recognize exemplary community service. They will be presented at the Celebration of Excellence in Community Service and Scholarship reception on May 15. Deadline: March 14, 2008. The awards are sponsored by the Service-Learning Initiative, Service-Learning Scholars Roundtable, and Project Community/Ohio Union. Applications and nominations for the 47th Annual Leadership Awards are available now and due by February 8 at 5:00 pm. Women in Politics: A Panel of Women Leading OHIO

Although many feel that feminism is a revolution of the past, it continues to be a struggle for women to hold positions of leadership in government. BLSA – Jones Day Judge Robert M. Duncan Scholarship

The BLSA – Jones Day Judge Robert M. Duncan Scholarship will be awarded to an Ohio State University undergraduate student interested in pursuing his or her legal education at the Moritz College of Law, with a preference to students of African or African-American descent. Applicants must receive their undergraduate degree from OSU by June 2008 and matriculate to the Moritz College of Law in the fall of 2008 as a first-year student. The shared objective of BLSA and Jones Day is to support the legal education of minority students and to increase the number of minority attorneys in the legal community. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 1, 2008. If you would like a copy of the application, please stop by the SOURCE desk at the Ohio Union between gates 22 and 24 of the Ohio Stadium.

Blueprint: College

Want to be a role model for children & make a difference in the Columbus community? Apply to be a part of Blueprint: College!
Blueprint: College is a partnership among Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience, the P-12 Project, the Economic Access Initiative, and Columbus City Schools . The program’s goals are twofold: to give first-generation, low-income, and/or minority parents tips on how to prepare their children for college and to relay the importance of a college education to their children. We are looking for a diverse group of enthusiastic Buckeyes who will serve as role models in the student classroom sessions of Blueprint: College and who can properly convey a strong message of the importance of college to young students. Previous experience working with children is preferred. Student Facilitators must have some understanding of child development and/or be committed to promoting educational opportunities to underserved families.

The position requires a commitment of about six hours per week beginning April 21 through May 31. Student Facilitators must also be available for a training session on Saturday, April 12 and two Saturday programs on campus scheduled for May 17 and May 31. Student Facilitators will receive $8.40 per hour for the position. The application deadline for this program is Friday, February 29, at 5 p.m.

Do you enjoy spending time with children and learning about cultures from around the world? I.N.C.H. (International Neighborhood Coffee Hour) may be the service opportunity for you. INCH meets every Wednesday morning from 9:15 to 11:30 at the University Baptist Church , across the street from campus. It is an organization geared to equip newcomers in the Columbus area a base of resources including day care, providing English as a Second Language instruction and meeting a network of women from around the world. H & S Food Pantry seeks donations

The H&S Food Pantry, sponsored by Serving with Honor, is asking for 100 boxes of Helper meals (hamburger helper, tuna helper, etc.) to be donated during the month of February to help serve local impoverished families in Franklin County . In November, over 80 boxes of mashed potatoes were donated. The food can be dropped off in Taylor Tower or Kuhn Honors and Scholars House before Thursday (3/6). NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2008 ALUMNI AWARDS – 50th ANNIVERSARY

The Ohio State University Alumni Association is currently seeking nominations for its annual alumni awards. Each year the Alumni Association presents awards in seven categories to honor those living alumni who personify Ohio State University ’s tradition of excellence. For 50 years The Ohio State University Alumni Association has recognized and honored distinguished alumni though the alumni awards program. To nominate a distinguished alumna or alumnus, download the official nomination form and complete the listed instructions at www.ohiostatealumni.org/awards/history. All nominations must be postmarked by March 31.

SERV Team Applications are available NOW!

SERV (Students Engaging in Responsible Volunteering) team members will work closely with the Project Community professional staff to plan and implement a series of service-related events and programs, including, but not limited to, Community Commitment, Make a Difference Day, MLK Day of Service, and Alternative Spring Break, and to create new programs that work to meet the needs of both OSU students and the greater Columbus community. Team members will also build relationships with community agencies, develop communication and leadership skills, and work towards creating capacity for social justice.
