Work-study Opportunity - Research
Title: Work-Study Research Assistants (2)
School/Unit: College of Education and Human Ecology (School of Physical Activity and Educational Services)
Supervisor: Dr. James L. Moore III
Location: PAES Building, Room A444
Hours: 10 to 15 hours per week (minimum)
Pay Rate: $7.00 to $10.00 (depending on experience)
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with library research (e.g., conducting electronic and manual searches of literature and obtaining books, monographs, and journal articles); assist with summarizing research literature; assist with preparing research papers, manuscripts for publication, and presentations at professional conferences; assist with document formatting and editing; assist with preparing and administering surveys; assist with interviewing research participants; assist with inputting data in statistical software packages; assist with transcribing audio tapes; assist with coding and analyzing data; and assist with clerical duties related to research tasks (e.g., typing, making copies, etc.).
Required Qualifications: Advanced undergraduate student (e.g., junior or senior) or graduate student with coursework in Education, Human Development, Statistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, or Black Studies. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Must have good organizational skills and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Soft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Some experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Nudist, Minitab, etc.) preferred but not required.
Additional Information: Applicants may work from home, and the work schedule is very flexible. All applicants must be eligible for federal work-study funding.
